William Moroney

Board Member

For over three decades, Bill Moroney was an internationally recognized leader in the successful deployment of early-stage, transformative technologies – from electronic funds transfers revolutionizing banking in the 1980s, to electronic mail changing all our lives in the 1990s, and ultimately to smart grids still remaking the energy business today. As the CEO of several industry trade associations working in North America and Europe, he led efforts to drive changes in regulation, technical standards, customer acceptance, and market awareness of new technologies. Earlier, he worked as a broadcast journalist and on two Presidential campaigns.

Bill and his wife Tracy are life-long residents of Washington, DC. The C&O Canal has always been an important part of their lives. Since their retirement, they have been involved with Georgetown Heritage, other National Park Friends organizations, and several education foundations as well as feeding their enjoyment of travel and learning.
