Georgetown Heritage Arts
We’re making Georgetown a destination for art that is welcoming, vibrant, inclusive, and educational.
As one of Washington, D.C.’s most historic neighborhoods and a vibrant mixed-use district, Georgetown is more than picturesque—it’s a destination for arts, culture, and creativity. With over 50 ways to experience it, the neighborhood offers countless opportunities to enrich any visit through music, art, performance, and community connection.
The Georgetown Heritage Arts & Culture Program activates this iconic neighborhood through creative placemaking, storytelling, and collaboration—fostering connection, belonging, and civic pride.
Artists and creatives have long drawn inspiration from Georgetown’s historic architecture, waterfront, and evolving identity. Building on that legacy, the program uses arts and culture as powerful tools of expression to illuminate the many layers of Georgetown’s story—from its early roots and diverse communities to its modern-day transformation.
By strengthening the neighborhood’s arts ecosystem, Georgetown Heritage seeks to make the community a dynamic, inclusive, and nationally recognized destination for public art and cultural experiences—celebrating its history, enlivening its public spaces, and honoring the people who shape it.
Our growing program will include:
Public art, performing arts, fine art galleries, institutions, and arts education
Visual and performing artists, musicians, educators, cultural practitioners, and everyday creators
Festivals, performances, exhibitions, and community celebrations that bring people together
See a few of our pilot projects below and stay tuned for much more in 2026!
Light Lane
Hop on one of four stationary bikes and pedal to the sounds of DC’s greatest musicians—brought to life with animated lights and floor projections. Light Lane is presented by the Georgetown BID and Georgetown Heritage arts, and sponsored by Georgetown Park
Fete de la Musique/World Music Day 2025
Our second annual Fête de la Musique – World Music Day was a huge success! On June 21, 2025, over 40 musical acts filled the streets of Georgetown and the stages of La Maison Française with incredible energy, rhythm, and community spirit.
