Georgetown Heritage has installed temporary lights on the Potomac, 33rd, and 34th Street pedestrian bridges over the C&O Canal to enhance safety and visitor comfort. The project is funded by a grant from the 3303 Water Street Condo Association and by contributions from Georgetown residents.
The LED strip lights are on daylight sensors, and will remain up for a minimum of three months while the program is being evaluated. The installation is temporary and reversible, with no permanent impact on the bridges.
A comprehensive lighting plan will be developed as part of the Georgetown Canal Plan.
